Video Description:

My journey through South Korea really took me by surprise. Out of the 2 weeks I spent there in 2016, there were a lot of WTF moments that I never thought I would be experiencing there, and so I decided to make a video compilation of all these moments:

WTF #1: The government invited me and a couple of digital nomads from around the world to speak at a co-working space on Jeju Island!? Hell yeah!

WTF #2: There were other things to do in South Korea than KPOP!? Well, I gotta admit, I didn't think much about South Korea and its tourist attractions before this trip, as all my perception came from all the Korean shows and movies, but it really took me by surprise when I found out there are numerous mountains to climb in places like Seoraksan and Jeju. Let's just say, I was extremely misinformed there.

WTF #3: Why were there so many people out on the streets of Seoul, dancing and partying on a regular Thursday night? Well, as it turned out, my trip coincided with a long public holiday period celebrating both children's day and the Buddha's birthday. It was pandemonium!

WTF #4: Live Octopus? Why so damn delicious!?

WTF #5: Why is South Korea's internet so god damn fast!? Uploading 4GB of video content in 15 minutes on a cell data in 2016!? That was pretty dope!

WTF #6: Why are the street food in South Korea so damn good and cheap!?

Honestly, South Korea was never on my radar as a must-visit country, but this video clearly shows how completely wrong I was and how stupid of me to form an opinion of a country before really seeing it for myself. Out of all the trips I made for more than 10 years, South Korea remains one of the fondest and most memorable moments of my life.

Seoul is one hell of a soulful place, Seoraksan National Park is a hiker's haven, and Jeju island is a place made for adventurers.

For this trip, I also had the opportunity to meet other fellow digital nomads from all over the world and hung out with them on Jeju island. It surprised me that even though I am a solo traveler through and through, I found myself actually having the time of my life traveling with these awesome people and enjoying the sense of community I had with them. I did learn a lot from them!

There's so much energy, so much culture, and so much untouched nature in South Korea waiting for you to explore, and I hope this video will inspire you to visit South Korea soon. Enjoy!

Special thanks to J-Space (the co-working space in Jeju) and the government for inviting me to South Korea.

Wondering what camera I am currently using? Here are all the camera gear I usually take with me when I am traveling:

Camera: Sony a7R V, the highest resolution full-frame camera out there, is my go-to camera when I travel. All of my recent photos and videos are all from this beast.
All-Around Travel Lens: Sony 24-70mm f2.8 GM II lens is the lens I mounted on my camera the most. The lens covers most of the ranges I need for travel from wide to telephoto. If I have to take only one lens with me on my travel, it would be this lens.
Ultra-Wide Lens: Sony 16-35mm F2.8 GM II Lnes: An ultra-wide lens I often use to shoot expansive landscapes and capture massive architecture I stumble upon while traveling.
Telephoto Lens: Sony 70-200mm F2.8 GM II lens is one of the most versatile lenses to have. It is great for picking out details in landscapes and capturing wildlife when combined with the Sony FE 2x teleconverter.
Portrait Lens: Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG DN Lens is the most compact and lightweight 85mm F1.4 lens out there. It's sharp and produces stunning bokeh for subject separation, perfect for portraits and street photography.
Drone: DJI Mavic Mini 2, a perfect drone for those who travel light. It weighs less than 250g and smaller than an iPhone when folded and can capture 4K video as well as 12 megapixels RAW photos. More than enough for its size.
Bag: Langly Alpha Globetrotter is a camera bag I use to carry all these lenses as well as other essentials when I'm traveling.
