Video Description:

Never Everest is a travel video that chronicles a man's awe-inspiring journey into the Himalayas, where he embarks on the challenging hike to Everest Base Camp and Gokyo, experiencing the rich Nepalese culture, meeting the resilient people of the mountains, and enduring the hardships of trekking in the majestic mountains for 15 days.

As he approached his 30th birthday, the man knew he wanted to fulfill his lifelong dream of seeing Mount Everest with his own eyes. In November 2018, armed with nothing but a backpack and determination, he arrived in Nepal and set off on a solo trek to Everest Base Camp, determined to achieve his dream before turning 30. The experience was both exhilarating and exhausting, and undoubtedly the best 30th birthday celebration he could have ever asked for. To test the limits of his body, trekking for 15 days at altitudes exceeding 5000 meters was the perfect challenge.

The journey took him to Lukla, where he experienced one of the most dangerous flights of his life before setting foot on the trail to Namche Bazar. The Himalayan culture enveloped him as he witnessed a Buddhist ceremony in Khunde Monastery and explored the sacred Tengboche Monastery at 3800 meters above sea level. The trek continued for the next 6 days until he reached Everest Base Camp, where the real expeditions to conquer the highest peak in the world commence.

From there, the man climbed Kala Patthar, standing at 5,643 meters, to behold the awe-inspiring sight of Mount Everest and the surrounding peaks. He then headed west towards another highlight of the trek, the Gokyo Lake. The trail to Gokyo offered a wilder and less-trodden path, which was a welcome change from the well-trodden route to Everest Base Camp. However, the adventure was far from over, as he had to navigate a melting glacier on the treacherous Chola Pass towards Gokyo, making for a heart-pounding experience.

After spending a few days exploring Gokyo Lake and hiking up Gokyo Ri, the man encountered some challenges, including a nasty case of Khumbu Cough from breathing dry air for too long and running out of money. Determined to push through, he trekked from Gokyo to Namche, a two-day hike squeezed into one, while battling the relentless cough. The arduous journey took around 8 hours to complete, and he almost collapsed upon reaching Namche Bazar late in the evening.

After a few days of rest, the man eventually made his way back to Kathmandu, where he began his recovery from the trek. Despite the lingering cough that lasted for weeks, the journey through the Himalayas was undoubtedly one of the best things he could ever do for himself on his birthday.

This video aims to give viewers a glimpse of what it's truly like trekking to Everest Base Camp and Gokyo, and hopefully, inspire others to embark on a similar adventurous journey.

Wondering what camera I am currently using? Here are all the camera gear I usually take with me when I am traveling:

Camera: Sony a7R V, the highest resolution full-frame camera out there, is my go-to camera when I travel. All of my recent photos and videos are all from this beast.
All-Around Travel Lens: Sony 24-70mm f2.8 GM II lens is the lens I mounted on my camera the most. The lens covers most of the ranges I need for travel from wide to telephoto. If I have to take only one lens with me on my travel, it would be this lens.
Ultra-Wide Lens: Sony 16-35mm F2.8 GM II Lnes: An ultra-wide lens I often use to shoot expansive landscapes and capture massive architecture I stumble upon while traveling.
Telephoto Lens: Sony 70-200mm F2.8 GM II lens is one of the most versatile lenses to have. It is great for picking out details in landscapes and capturing wildlife when combined with the Sony FE 2x teleconverter.
Portrait Lens: Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG DN Lens is the most compact and lightweight 85mm F1.4 lens out there. It's sharp and produces stunning bokeh for subject separation, perfect for portraits and street photography.
Drone: DJI Mavic Mini 2, a perfect drone for those who travel light. It weighs less than 250g and smaller than an iPhone when folded and can capture 4K video as well as 12 megapixels RAW photos. More than enough for its size.
Bag: Langly Alpha Globetrotter is a camera bag I use to carry all these lenses as well as other essentials when I'm traveling.
