Ah...Bagan i miss that place a lot....I grew up in that Country , how much I loved the mysteries of Bagan. It was a magical time , visiting that place. Thank You for all these photos , it's like yesterday when I saw those places

Amazing thank you! LOVE the temples. There was a piece on TIC that also showed fellow travellers quite a bit about Myanmar's culture and history http://www.travelindochina.com/blog.../welcome-to-burma/ - may be of interest.

What app do you use to edit your photos? They are stunning!

Your photos are amazing! Breathtaking! Will be doing a quick trip to Myanmar real soon, do you recommend 2 instead of 1 day in bagan?

hello, I am planning a solo tour to Myanmar as well, as I was researching, I saw your blog. You have great photos! Is there a way to travel by bus from Mandalay to Bagan? or will it take so much time?

Your photos are unreal! Hope i can get ones half that good. I'm going next mo nth for the full 28 days, so hyped for it,

Thanks, great blog, going to go there next year with my GF. Can you give a bit more details on your inner-myanmar flights, such a price, and how long before you booked them, and where did you book them? thanks!

great post and awesome photos. i currently live in japan and am looking to visit myanmar solo for a short trip late april / early may. what was your take on the crowds and 'touristy' feel you got while you traveled around? i definitely understand the popularity has increased over the last couple years. also any suggestions on luggage? my plan is a 'home base' lockable soft sided duffel bag with a small day pack that can be packed into the duffel during transport. game plan so far is rangoon to bagam (via train), bagam to mandalay (via ferry), depart from mandalay. any insight would be appreciated! thanks!

Hi there.. i am planning to go myanmar on July. However, i will reach yangon and planning to go heho. Do you have any chance to explore that area?

Unfortunately, I have not been there before but I'll have to go back to see those places!

Hello! I'm happy to stumble upon this blog entry as I am planning my trip there. I just want to ask if you have a guide in some of the temples? I read in some blogs that some locals in the temples would gladly help you out. Did you every experience those? Thank you!

Your trip sounds amazing! I'm wondering how could you get lost without getting lost?

I just discover your Myanmar trip. Thanks for sharing this, even it was 3 years ago, it gave me good indication and reinforced in me the idea to visit this fabulous country. The color and light in your photos is amazing. Thanks again for sharing . Hughes from France

Hi Pete,
thanks for a great and inspiring story of your Mynmar Adventure. I'm thinking of going there during Songkran, and your itinerary looks very appealing, except of the biking part - I'm quite scared to bike where there's traffic (and even more scared of using the motorcycle), so I wonder if there's much traffic there? thanks a lot!

Hey Elena, thank you for the kind words and the comments! Songkran will be awesome in Myanmar. :) Don't worry about biking as there aren't a lot of traffic in Bagan. Mandalay is more crowded and harder to ride but you can always hire someone there. :)

There is also an option to get an e-bike for Bagan which serves as a perfect alternative to bikes and motorbikes, slower than a motorbike, but faster and more convenient than a bike. It will be awesome either way :)

I hope this helps!

I wonder where you inquired about the price of the simcard. 200 USD is indeed too expensive. When I was there last year, I was able to buy an Ooredoo Tourist Sim Card and it only cost me 11500 kyats (around US$ 8.50).

Also, very sorry to hear about your guide in Mandalay. I got one too when I was there, and he brought me to places similar to yours, and more. He also took me to the Jade Pagoda and the Dee Dote Waterfalls, and I only paid 20,000 kyats (less than US$ 15) for everything.

I had fun reading your post btw. Made me reminisce about my trip last year. Wish I could go back there again when this pandemic is over.

Hey Tina,

The price was way back in early 2014 when the country was still not as open to tourism as today and the SIM card really did cost 200 USD back then. I remember having to get a VISA, and i'm from Thailand, their next door neighbors haha, so yeah, it has since changed from then. :)

Thanks again for reading and commenting on the story! :)
